What Do Pressure Washer Nozzle Colors Mean?

Pressure washer nozzles are color-coded to indicate their spray angle and pressure. Here is what different color tips mean:

  • Red (0 degrees): Concentrated, high-pressure stream for tough stains and grime. Use with caution.
  • Yellow (15 degrees): Narrow, high-pressure fan spray for heavy-duty cleaning like concrete and metal.
  • Green (25 degrees): Medium-pressure spray for general cleaning tasks such as cars and boats.
  • White (40 degrees): Wide, low-pressure spray for light cleaning and rinsing, like windows and siding.
  • Black (65 degrees): Very wide, low-pressure spray for applying soap or chemicals evenly.

What Nozzle Size Should I Get?

The right nozzle size depends on your pressure washer's PSI (pounds per square inch) and GPM (gallons per minute). Using too large a nozzle can result in loss of performance, and too small can damage your pump.

In order to pick the right size, use our nozzle calculator (tap the 3 lines on the top left on mobile, or at the top left of the page on desktop) to determine the right size for you.

What Are Turbo Nozzles?

Turbo nozzles (aka rotary or spinning nozzles) combine the high impact of a 0-degree nozzle with a wide spray pattern via a rotating head. This design increases cleaning efficiency and power, ideal for tough stains, curbs, heavy equipment, and more. Here are some key benefits:

  • Increased Cleaning Power: The rotating action covers more area and provides deep cleaning power, removing stubborn dirt, grime, and stains more effectively.
  • Time Efficiency: Turbo nozzles clean faster than standard nozzles due to their increased power and coverage area.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a variety of surfaces, including concrete, brick, and metal. However, they should be used with caution on surfaces like wood or paint to avoid damage.
